The official flag of Bellingham, Washington.

The flag of the city of Bellingham, Washington in the United States was created by local artist Brad Lockhart. It was first flown on Flag Day in 2017 after being approved by the City Council in April 2017.[1] This is the first official flag of Bellingham.

Symbolism

The blue half-circle stands for Bellingham Bay with the three wavy lines representing the water of the Whatcom Falls' water which can be seen when the flag is flown vertically. Whatcom can be translated to noisy waters. The two white stars stand for Bellingham's local Coast Salish peoples: the Lummi Nation and the Nooksack Tribe. The three green stripes symbolize the four original towns of Bellingham: Whatcom, Sehome, Bellingham, and Fairhaven.[2]
