Flag of Jerusalem

Design | Two blue horizontal tallit-style stripes on a white background with the emblem of Jerusalem in the centre |
The flag of Jerusalem is based on the flag of Israel. It features two horizontal blue stripes reminiscent of those on a tallit (a ritual prayer shawl in Judaism and Samaritanism), and a central display of the emblem of Jerusalem, which consists of a shield with the Lion of Judah flanked on either side by olive branches and superimposed on a stylized background representing the Western Wall; above the municipal emblem is the Hebrew-language word for Jerusalem (ירושלים, Yerushaláyim). The flag is sometimes displayed in a vertical variation during ceremonial functions.
