Florence McLandburgh, who also used the pen name McLandburgh Wilson, was an American writer and poet. She contributed regularly to popular magazines such as Scribner's Monthly, Harper's Magazine, Munsey's Magazine, Ainslee's Magazine, The Atlantic Monthly, and The Saturday Evening Post.[1] Her notable work includes The Automaton Ear and Other Sketches (1876), featuring a device that allows the protagonist to listen to past sounds, functioning as a sonic time viewer.[2]

Her writings have attracted scholars interested in late nineteenth and early twentieth-century sound ideas, technologies, and experiences.[3][4]
