Florida Atlantic University College of Social Work and Criminal Justice
The FAU College of Social Work and Criminal Justice is located in Boca Raton, Florida and is one of the ten academic colleges of Florida Atlantic University.[1][2] The College offers criminal justice and social work degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels.[3]
Background[edit]
Originally founded as the College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs, it has since underwent two name changes.[4][5] In 2010, the College was renamed to the College of Design and Social Inquiry.[6] After departmental restructuring, the college took its current form as the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice in 2020.[7][8][9] Naelys Luna (Ph.D., Fordham University) serves as Dean of the College.[10][11][12]
The College of Social Work and Criminal Justice is made up by two schools: the Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work and the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice.[13][14][15] In 2016, the College's Sandler School of Social Work became the first social work school in the state of Florida to offer a D.S.W. degree program.[16][17] As of 2022, the college collectively enrolls 1,979 students.[18]
Degree Offerings[edit]
Under the umbrella of the College, each school offers the following degrees:[19][20]
Sandler School of Social Work
School of Criminology and Criminal Justice
Accreditation[edit]
The College is accredited through the University by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.[21] The College's Sandler School of Social Work is independently accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and is authorized to award baccalaureate and master's degrees in Social Work.[22]
