State Road 605 (SR 605) was a state road in St. Lucie and Indian River counties. It ran between Fort Pierce and Vero Beach.[1][2][3] It became a county road in both St. Lucie County and Indian River County after it was decommissioned in the late 1980s. It ran parallel to US Highway 1 (US 1).
Route description

The road began in White City at the intersection with SR 712. It went north as Oleander Boulevard and entered downtown Fort Pierce. It intersected SR 611 (Edwards Road) and continued north to Sunrise Boulevard. Afterwards, the road went unsigned and had a concurrency with U.S. Highway 1 (US 1). It split from US 1, became signed, and continued parallel to US 1 on the former routing of the Dixie Highway. It crossed Taylor Creek. It continued north and intersected SR 608 (St. Lucie Boulevard). It would continue north into Indrio and intersect SR 607. It continued north, going under US 1 and entering Oslo. In Oslo, it intersected SR 606 and SR 612. It then entered Vero Beach and ended at its northern terminus at SR 60.
History
The roadway was built in the 1890s and 1900s.[4]The northern section of SR 605 ran on the former route of the Dixie Highway and portions of US 1. The road was decommissioned in 1988[5] and was replaced by county roads in both St. Lucie and Indian River counties.
