"Feels Like a Wish", also colloquially and formerly known as "Fond My Mind" (FMM) or "Nowhere to Run", based on lyrics in the song, or "The Most Mysterious Song in Brazil",[1] is a 1989 song by Brazilian duo Station K., consisting of Edde Edman and André Nóbrega. The song was broadcast on various Brazilian radio stations during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Its artists and name were unknown when it was uploaded to spiritofradio.ca, a website dedicated to helping identify unknown songs.

In 2013, WatZatSong user 'gsipkoi' uploaded a 30-second clip of this song, but the search did not gain traction until user 'Peter' reuploaded the clip to spiritofradio.[2] The clip would not be truly noticed until around 2019, when a Reddit user uploaded Peter's clip onto r/Lostwave in December 2019.

Feels Like A Wish was considered to be an example of Lostwave, a term used to describe songs with unknown artist or name.

History[edit]

Feels Like A Wish was created around 1989 by producer Edde Edman and vocalist André Nóbrega. Edman, who lived in New York City, traveled to Brazil to have Nóbrega record the lyrics, then sent cassette tapes with the song on them to various Brazilian radio stations to air before moving back to New York City. Eventually, sometime in 1992 or 1993, the song was played on radio station Rede Cidade 95.9 FM, where Gabor, also known as gsipkoi, recorded the song. He later edited the DJ's introduction out of the tape and accidentally removed around 7 seconds of the intro. Nearly 20 years later, in 2013, Gabor uploaded a 30 second clip of the song onto WatZatSong.com in hopes that people could help identify it. Although no one was able to identify it, user Peter would later repost Gabor's clip onto spiritofradio.ca. It was theorized to be by Canadian band Red Sector One, though a member of that band later debunked this theory.

Nearly five years after Peter posted the clip onto spiritofradio, Reddit user u/nonoseacrest reposted his clip to r/Lostwave, where the first documented use of the title Nowhere To Run was used to describe the song.

Discovery[edit]

Eventually, the search was brought to the attention of Edde "Edman" Cavalcanti, who claimed that the song was his, or rather a part of a group he made known as Station K.. He claimed to have made the song alongside Sergio Dourado, but later retracted this statement and claimed Nobrega was the singer. After receiving many emails, messages, and friend requests on social media, Edman snapped and stated he would sue them for trying to hustle him out of his own work.

Left title, right quote
my nobleman, And why should I have to prove anything to you or anyone else in the world ? you're so pathetic !! I don't need to prove anything to anyone, the song is mine and fuck it!! I don't give a shit if you believe it or not... I have a lot, much more to do with my life than talking to strangers of dubious character... or proving something to someone else...fuck off your impetulance!! Do you really think i'm a fool ?? Do you really think you're fooling me and think I don't know you're a criminal ? you have a fake profile, evasive and lacking in information, and you are there trying to scam people, or trying to illegally appropriate the works of others So listen well... And just remembering that if you or anyone else in world make an unauthorized use of my song, I'll file a lawsuit up your ass !!

Edde Edman, In a message sent to someone asking if he created Fond My Mind

Afterward, it was agreed that communication with Edman should remain strictly with Brazilians. Contact was made with Nobrega, but he did not have a copy of the song, and stated that if they wanted the song, they should try to contact Edman. After this, a dead end was reached, and the search grew cold.

However, a breakthrough was made when an interview Edman gave under the name Edde Vulcan was discovered, which included a man named William Paiva. Paiva was acquainted with Edman and had been his mix engineer on several occasions. Although he did not produce Fond My Mind, he had a copy of it in his studio. He would then release the video on his YouTube channel,[3] with Edman later releasing a video of the song[4] and a remastered version of it.[5]
