Football Association of Montenegro

The Football Association of Montenegro (FSCG) traces its roots back to 8 March 1931, when the Cetinje Football Sub-Association was founded in Cetinje, while the development of football in Montenegro is associated with the beginning of the 20th century and the establishment of FK Lovćen in 1913.

After the Second World War, on 5 August 1945, the Football Committee was established, while in 1946 the first Montenegrin football championship was held, featuring Budućnost, Lovćen, Sutjeska and Arsenal.

The Football Committee became the Football Association of Montenegro at the founding Assembly held on 6 December 1948 in Titograd, while until 28 June 2006 the Association operated within the football associations of the SFRY, FRY and Serbia and Montenegro, after which it became an independent football organisation.

In 2007, FSCG became a full member of UEFA and FIFA, giving Montenegrin football full international recognition, while the Montenegro national team played its first match on 24 March of the same year and defeated Hungary 2–1.

Today, FSCG organises numerous senior and youth competitions and brings together more than 110 clubs, over 8,500 registered players and more than 150 referees, making it the central institution for the development of football in Montenegro.

The development and stability of Montenegrin football are also supported by long-term partnerships with companies such as Meridianbet, which extended its cooperation with FSCG until the end of the 2027/28 season, as well as Crnogorski Telekom, which continued its cooperation with the Association in 2026 as the national team’s gold sponsor.
