Footnote
A footnote is a piece of information printed at the bottom of the page; they are used to give a small bit of information which expands upon what it is referring to.[1]
They are marked with a "¹" for the first footnote, then a "²" for the second and so on. It is placed after the phrase¹ which is being elaborated upon, and before the footnote at the bottom of the page.
Footnotes help keep a page clear and readable, without going on tangents that break the flow of the sentence.² Examples of uses can be in books, websites or commercials.
¹ It may be a phrase or a word.
² They can also be used to cite a quote.
