For Lack of a Better Album Title is a compilation album by Canadian electronic music producer Deadmau5, released in the United Kingdom by EMI, and worldwide on December 13, 2010 by Mau5trap. It contains tracks from Random Album Title and For Lack of a Better Name, two of his studio albums prior to its release. The release also includes contributions from Ultra Records under the portion of For Lack of a Better Name, and Ministry of Sound under the portion of Random Album Title.
Background
While the album was initially released worldwide, it has since been exclusive to certain regions of the world. Online media sources such as iTunes[1], TIDAL[2] and other various sources provide this album, of which only iTunes, includes two versions: a standard version containing the listed tracks, and a deluxe version which includes two bonus music videos, selling for £4.99 and £6.99 respectively. In addition to having all tracks from Random Album Title, and For Lack of a Better Name, two bonus tracks and two continuous mixes are added with the purchase of the full album. The bonus tracks consist of a vocal mix of the track "Moar Ghosts N Stuff" featuring Rob Swire from For Lack of a Better Name, and a live version of the single "Not Exactly" from Random Album Title.
Reception
Though the album itself has never received any official reviews other than generally favorable reviews on iTunes from customers, the two compiled albums have both received critical reception themselves. Random Album Title received mixed reviews, receiving 3/5 stars from AllMusic[3]. Similar to its predecessor, For Lack of a Better Name received generally mixed reviews from multiple sources. AllMusic[4] and CHARTattack[5] gave the album 3.5/5 stars, while The Times[6] gave it an average of 3/5 stars. The Observer[7] and BBC[8] provided overall favorable reviews, while The Independent[9] closed with an overall unfavorable review.
