History

Forge Global was founded in 2014 in San Francisco, California, as a private-markets platform facilitating trading in shares of privately held companies.[3] In 2020, Forge completed a merger with secondary-market platform SharesPost, expanding its trading and private-company solutions capabilities.[5] The company became publicly listed on the New York Stock Exchange in March 2022 following its business combination with special-purpose acquisition company Motive Capital Corp. [4]

Operations

Forge operates an electronic trading platform for private company shares and provides data and technology services supporting transactions in private markets.[1][2] As of 2024, Forge operated across five business lines, as disclosed in its annual report: Marketplace, Private Company Solutions, Asset Management, Data, and Custody.[6]
