Forky is a fictional character in the Toy Story franchise created by Pixar animation studios, first appearing in the fourth installment of the franchise called Toy Story 4,[3] which was released in 2019. Before he became Forky, he was just a plain spork at the Pizza Planet in Toy Story, and Bonnie made him into Forky. Disney has announced Forky Asks a Question for Disney+.[4]

Physical appearance[edit]

Forky is a white plastic spork outfitted with a pair of different sized googly eyes, a mouth made out of a blue rubber band, two halves of a popsicle stick for a pair of feet held together by clay, slender arms and hands made out of a red pipe cleaner, and a unibrow made out of red yarn. Bonnie's name is written on the bottom of his feet.

Story[edit]

At the beginning of Toy Story 4, Bonnie made Forky in school and brought him home. When Forky is in Bonnie's backpack, Forky can move and talk like a normal toy in Toy Story, so he asked Woody why he became a toy and Woody replied, "You were made by Bonnie," but Forky still thought of himself as a bunch of trash. When they returned to Bonnie's home, they met the other toys that belong to Bonnie. Forky thought those toys are toys and he is trash, so he ran to the trash bin in Bonnie's room. Woody stopped Forky, so Forky couldn't get to the trash bin.

That night, Bonnie hugged Forky while sleeping. Forky wanted to throw himself in the trash bin again, but Woody stopped him. The next day, Bonnie brought every toy to the roadtrip to Grand Basin. That night, Bonnie still hugged Forky as she slept, but this time Forky could escape, though Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear were watching in the RC. Before he jumped he said, "I was made by soup, salad, maybe chili; I am not a toy, I am a litter. Freedom!" Forky jumped down when the car is located 5.5 miles to Grand Basin. So Woody also jumped and found Forky in a bush. They talked while they walked to the Grand Basin, and Sheriff Woody said, "You're lucky to become a toy of Bonnie...... I have another child to take care of when I was younger, he is Andy." But Forky realized, "I was a trash of Bonnie."

Although Forky realized that he was a trash of Bonnie, he wanted to get back to Bonnie's side after the chat with Sheriff Woody.

Development and reception[edit]

Originally, Forky's appearance is not the same as nowadays [5]

While considering names for the character, director Josh Cooley showed a picture of the character to his son and asked for a suggestion on the name. Cooley's son, approximately four years old at the time, suggested the name Fork Face, and Cooley later said "the fact that he's around the same age as Bonnie and didn't know what a spork was, I thought, 'That feels real to me.' So Forky felt like a kid would name him that."[6][7]

Toy Story 4[edit]

Toy Story 4 follows a group of toys and their lifestyle. This animation movie tries to show the unknown world of toya and their relationship with the kids. We all thought the last movie was 'the last one', but we were wrong. Toy Story 4 brings back all the toys for a new adventure.[8]
