Forum (Russian: Форум) is a Soviet and Russian electropop group founded in 1983. Group "Forum" was active from 1983 till 1994 and was reborn in 2011. The first synthpop band in USSR.

XX century[edit]

The band squad was formed by participants of "Forward" band with Alexey Fadeev (guitar, bass, vocal), Vladimir Yermolin (guitar, vocal), Alexander Nazarovv (bass, banjo), Irina Komarova (violin, bass, vocal) and Boris Bogdanov (percussion). Later soon, Rafik Kashapov has invited into band as a vocal leader.[1]

Their first performance has become in "Rok za mir" festival at Czech town Sokolov in February, 1984. The song "Ty ponimayesh" was one of the best. After this performance the band has return to USSR. Fadeev, Yermolin, Komarova and Bogdanov left the band and had formed "Start" band in July, 1983.[1]

Alexander Nazarov and sound director Lazar Anastasiadi have reunited the group again. They have invited Viktor Saltykov (who had become the best singer of the second Leningrad rock festival with "Manufaktura" band). Besides, Nikolay Kablukov and Yuri Stikhanov (guitar), Mikhail Menaker (keyboard) and Alexander Dronik (percussion) had invited to the Forum band. The new squad of band had given the concert at the Palace of youth in September. Their first album "Belaya Noch" ("White Night") has released in December, 1984. After the first album, Yuri Stikhanov had left the band and joined to Gunnar Graps Group and Vladimir Kaufman's "August" band.[1]

In 1985, The newspaper «Moskovskij Komsomolets» («Московский комсомолец») was awarded the fourth place to the band in topic «Sound Tape» («Звуковая дорожка»)[2]

The "Forum" band has gave the concerts with Alexander Morozov's hits like "Belaya Noch" ("Белая ночь"), "Ulyeteli Listya" ("Улетели листья") and "Ostrovok" ("Островок") all over 1985. Drummer Konstantin Ardashin has invited to the band in June. Musicians have performed songs at 12th World Festival of Youth and Students and "Davayte Sozvonimsya" music video has broadcast on TV. On November 1985, Mikhail Menaker was drafted into the Soviet Army. On January 1986, Vladimir Sayko has subtituted Menaker. Sayko was a participant of «Strannye Igry» (1979—1980s) and «Soyuz lyubitelyey muzyki rok». Newspapers have reckoned the Forum band as one of the most popular in USSR. The group has performed in «Muzykalnyi ring» («Музыкальный ринг») TV show.[1]

On 1986, the Forum band has performed "Ulyeteli Listya" song at 16th «Pesnya Goda» («Песня года») final.

On June 1987, Lenconcert, composer Alexander Morozov and participants of the band has conflicts. Saltykov, Nazarov, Dronik and Anastasiadi had departured to the David Tukhmanov's Electroclub band. After that conflicts the Forum band has invited a new vocal leader Sergey Rogozhin from the Auktyon band. Rogozhin was awarded the best performer twice at IV and V Leningrad rock-club festival. Also, the band have perfomance at «Land og Folk Festival» in Denmark.[1] The second album «Nikto ne vinovat» has recorded that year. After the Alexander Morozov's departure on 1989, the popularity of band has lost. On June 1989, Kablukov and Ardashin had left the band and created Belaya noch band. Ivan Barbotin had invited from Sphinx and Fauna bands, but after several months he left the band and moved abroad. Yevgeniy Shcherbenin (guitar), Sergey Sharkov (drummer), Vladislav Sheremetyev (guitar) and Sergey Yeryomin (sound) have invited and have substited the past members.[1]

From 1988 till 1991, the Forum band has performed songs at «Pesnya Goda» («Песня года») finals with songs «Na Sosyednyey Ulitse» («На соседней улице») (1988), «Potyomkinskaya Lestnitsa» («Потемкинская лестница») (1989), «Revnost'» («Ревность») (1990), «Tvoyi Seryie Glaza» («Твои серые глаза») (1991).

On January 9, 1992, the third album «Chornyi Dragon» («Чёрный дракон») was released. On June, Rozohin was awarded the best vocal award at «Шлягер-92» festival. The band has include only two leader members: singer Sergey Rogozhin and composer Vladimir Sayko. After another two music albums «Lyetnyaya zima» («Летняя зима») (1993) and «Ochi Chornyie» («Очи чёрные») (1994), the Forum band was dissolved.[1]

2004 — present[edit]

In 2004, the Forum band had celebrated their 20th Anniversary. In 2009 Viktor Saltykov and Sergey Rogozhin had collaborated on the project on their 25th Anniversary and released Forum 25 («Форум 25») album.

In 2011 Alexander Morozov and producer Marina Parusnikova with Nikolay Kablukov (guitar), Konstantin Ardashin (percussion) had reunited the band. Oleg Sysoyev (keyboard and singers Anton Avdeev and Pavel Dmitriyev have also invited to the band.

In March, 2011, the new squad of the Forum band has debuted in Moscow state music theatre.
