Francesco Berti
Francesco Berti was one of the founders of the Sammarinese Communist Party,[1] which became the first (and, so far, only) democratically-elected communist government in Western Europe.[2] He served as a lifelong communist militant throughout the 20th century. His granddaughter, Vanessa D'Ambrosio, also became a politician and served as Captain-Regent from April 1, 2017 to September 30, 2017, as well as representative of San Marino to the Council of Europe.[3]
