Francesco Savatta (born 26 December 1970) is an Italian artist who specialised in graphite on paper.
Early years and education
Francesco Savatta was born in Gela, where he lives and works Autodidact, since childhood he follows his vocation for drawing and painting, inspired by the Renaissance tradition. In his solitude he continues his personal research and, after a period of Hyperrealism influence, gradually begins to think of what he wants to tell. So thus, he goes beyond the shape of things starting to represent a personal and new vision of the world. He re-elaborates the strict rules which characterize his production, and, in his works, he describes and tells his interior universe. From the 90's, for about 20 years, he dedicates himself to an analysis of the reality with a Hyperrealist influence. From 2010 he studies and develops a thematic linked to the relationship between subconscious and reality, keeping on representing, with Hyperrealism, a kind of subjects who, in the context of his works, become surreal. Collections
His works are held in major public collections, including the Graphics Cabinet of the Apostolic Vatican Library (Rome), the Department of Drawings and Prints of the Marucelliana Library (Florence), the International Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art Ca’ Pesaro (Venice), and the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History (Rome).
