Francisco Hernandez (born 4 April 1990) is a New Zealand political candidate for the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand in the Dunedin Electorate in the upcoming 2023 New Zealand General Election.

He was the President of the Otago University Students' Association in 2013.[1]

He has held a number of roles in the public service, including as Parliamentary Policy Advisor to the Green Party co-leaders. As Senior Analyst at the Climate Change Commission, he led the waste workstream. He currently works as a Principal Advisor on Climate Change in local government.

He is a climate activist who attended the 2015 Paris Climate Talks as a youth delegate and was inspired by the proceedings to help lead the successful campaign to pass the Zero Carbon Act as a member of Generation Zero.[2]

He studied at the University of Otago and has a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a Bachelor of Political Science and Government. He also has a Master's degree in Entrepreneurial and Small Business Operations.[3]

He has a Twitter account with nearly 3000 followers as of April 2023, where he tweets about his interests, jokes/unserious tweets, and politics.

He is sometimes known by his self-described zoom pseudonym 'Fernando Henriquez', a portmanteau of his first and last names.[4][5]
