From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Franck Delmotte is a French researcher and Professor at the Institut d’Optique Graduate School (IOGS), Laboratoire Charles Fabry, at Paris-Saclay University. He leads the XUV Optics group[1] at IOGS and has made foundational contributions in the fields of Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV)/soft x-ray optics for solar physics and astrophysics, synchrotron sources,[2] coherent sources (attosecond, high-harmonic generation,[3] free-electron laser) and x-ray diagnostics for laser fusion facilities such as the National Ignition Facility (NIF, in the US) and Laser Megajoule (LMJ, in France). He demonstrated experimentally the first 3-component EUV multilayer coatings with enhanced performance,[4] and has developed several EUV/soft x-ray coatings with record reflectivity.[5][6][7][8] He developed the first x-ray broadband multilayer coatings for NIF and LMJ diagnostics.[9] He developed multilayer optics for attosecond source experiments in collaboration with Nobel-prize winner Anne L’Huillier.[10] He is co-Investigator in ESA/NASA’s Solar Orbiter space mission[11] and developed the multilayer optics for two of the instruments aboard Solar Orbiter.[12][13] Earlier, he was a leading contributor to the multilayer optics for NASA's STEREO solar mission.[14][15]

Career

He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from University Paris-Sud (now University Paris-Saclay, France) in 1998.[16] Since 1998 he has been a researcher at Laboratoire Charles Fabry, as well as Associate Professor and Professor at IOGS, University Paris-Saclay. During 2019 – 2024 he was Dean of Studies at IOGS.
