Frank "Buck" Shaffer (August 6, 1921 – December 1, 2006) was an American musician, band leader, and music educator. He is mostly known for his 37 years as the band director of the Porterville High School Panther Band as well as the Porterville High School Fabulous Studio Band. As a teacher, Shaffer took the high school band to numerous concert trips including Japan, Okinawa, Korea, Hawaii, Seattle, and Washington D.C.

In 1998 Buck developed a relationship with a neighbor and fellow educator Peggy Putney. By the following year, on April 1st, 1999, they were wed. (p. 173)

Published works
In 1961 Buck Shaffer helped to put out the album "Have Band Will Travel" by the Fabulous Studio Band p. 118. In 1972, he then helped to put out their album "Fabulous Studio Band Celebrates its 20th Year in the 20th Century," on Freedom Records. (p.139) Another Fabulous Studio Album LP album exists, as well as three other Porterville Panther Band LP albums. (p. 104)
In 2000 Buck, along with the help of his wife Peggy, wrote his autobiography, called "'Buck' It's all about bands!" This book also features many photos from Bill Rodgers, Jeff Edwards, Buck's two brothers, as well as his two sons. (p. iii-iv)
