Frank Fleming (born November 11, 1975), nicknamed "The Tank" is an American sportswriter, food reviewer, and podcaster for Barstool Sports.

Early life[edit]

Career[edit]

After graduating from Montclair State University in 2000, Fleming landed a job as a court clerk for the state of New Jersey and stayed there until he was hired by Barstool Sports full time in 2020. Fleming started the Sports Encyclopedia in 2001, which still is active, and covers all major and minor American sports leagues.[2]

Fleming gained internet popularity in April 2017, when a news interview with Fleming went viral for delays on the New Jersey Transit on his way to Opening Day for the New York Mets.[3] Shortly after the rant went viral, Fleming was contacted by David Portnoy of Barstool, who initially hired him to post late night recaps under the moniker Frankie Midnight. He was eventually hired by Barstool Sports full time in November 2020.[4] During his time at Barstool, Fleming has become notable for rants regarding his hot dog and soda reviews and rants about the New York Mets. During the Mets 2022 season, when the team lost the division down the stretch to the Atlanta Braves, relief pitcher Tyler Matzek credited Fleming's rants for providing the team with extra motivation and humor.[5]
