Frank Anthony Moreno (born February 7, 1977) is a musician known as Frankie Moreno.

Childhood[edit]

Frankie Moreno was a child prodigy, playing multiple instruments at a young age.[1]

Career[edit]

Frankie Moreno (born Frank Anthony Moreno; 7 February 1977) is an American singer, songwriter, music education advocate, and Las Vegas, Nevada headliner. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has named Frankie as the, “Las Vegas Strip Performer of the Year” for 2015, 2016 and 2017 for receiving the most votes in their annual competition. [1]

Having first performed for a national audience by appearing on the TV show "Star Search” when he was 11 years old[2], Frankie is an advocate for music education for children. He supports, “Music in the Schools" to combat the defunding of music programs. Frankie volunteers to augment the music programs in schools by working with elementary school children on special performances and recordings[3] and teaching songwriting to high school students. Frankie believes that age does not restrict the quality of music a person can produce. He works with the goal of inspiring kids to study music.[4]

Frankie performed a national PBS special on July 15, 2015[5] and on the TV show "Dancing with the Stars” on October 9, 2012, where he performed his original song “Tangerine Honey.” [6]

Frankie’s collaboration with internationally renowned violinist Joshua Bell reached #1 in two different categories of Billboard Charts, Classical and Cross-over, on October 17, 2009. [7][8] On this recording Bell plays his Gibson ex-Huberman Stradivarius violin.

Frankie’s role as a Las Vegas Headliner and his national exposure, including his presence on top of two Billboard Charts, is unusual because he was not contractually tied to any record label. This unusual path to commercial success was driven by demand for his work, both live (the Rush lounge couldn’t fit more people so he was made the headline performer) and recorded (Billboard Charts number ones).

For his performance as a headliner at multiple Casinos on the Las Vegas Strip and his stage performance, Frankie is referred to as the "King of Vegas.”[9] [10]

In 2015 Frankie Moreno regularly performed at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino’s Rush Lounge. His performances multiple times per week became so popular that the owner of the Golden Nugget, Tilman Joseph Fertitta, contracted Frankie to be his headline performer at the Golden Nugget. Other Golden Nugget Headliners include famous musicians Frank Sinatra, George Strait, Johnny Cash, and Kenny Rodgers;[11] Established musicians with extensive hit recordings are usually the headliners in Las Vegas. Musicians that performed as Las Vegas headliners at the same time as Frankie include: Elton John, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Brooks & Dunn, Backstreet Boys, and Brittany Spears[12]

During Frankie’s residency at the Golden Nugget 2000 - 2017[13] Frankie’s dressing room was the same dressing room that Frank Sinatra used when he was the headliner at the Golden Nugget, where Frank recorded a live album in 1986. Frankie chose to keep the dressing room as it was when Frank Sinatra used it.[14]

Frankie also headlined at Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino[15], and the Stratosphere.[16]

Also known for his music compositions, Frankie was the music director for the band Air Supply and wrote a commercially recognized song for the band.[1] To highlight his music composing abilities, and his ability to always perform completely live, in 2018 Frankie performed a run of 9 concerts at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts where he performed a total of 100 new songs over the course of the 9 shows.[17]

Frankie's innovations in combining classical symphony orchestras with his rock band has resulted in changes to normal audience behavior. In 2018, Frankie performed with the New York Pops at Carnegie hall. The audience broke from the traditional behavior of staying seated during the performance. The audience members were standing up and dancing while he played. [18][18]
