Frat Star (Stylized as FRΔT STΔR) is a feature-length dark comedy film released on January 3, 2017.[1] The film is written by Grant S. Johnson. He and Ippsie Jones co-directed the film, and he and Hunter Ryan (Other People (film)) are producers. It stars Connor Lawrence, Justin Mark, Cathryn Dylan, Tyler Weaks, and Chris Elliott (Groundhog Day (film), There's Something About Mary). Instagram influencer 'FuckJerry' and his business partner, Elie Ballas, are Executive Producers. [2]

Plot[edit]

An insecure, poor, and broken-hearted Nick enters freshman year with no interest in fraternities. This all changes when his old money roommate Billy convinces him to pledge.[3] [4]

Production[edit]

Casting began in August 2015 and principal photography ran from September to October 2015. The majority of shooting took place in Westchester, New York. Two New York colleges were used as the backdrop for the fictional 'Whitehall University'. Frat Star marks the feature-film debut for its three main stars, who have since been in notable TV shows such as Gotham, Grey's Anatomy, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.[5]

Soundtrack[edit]

The score is composed by Rod Abernethy. There are multiple songs in the film by young artists, such as The Farrow.

Release[edit]

Frat Star is distributed by Gravitas Ventures, with a January 3, 2017 release. The film will be viewable on many IVOD and VOD mediums, including iTunes,[1] Amazon Video,[6] Vudu, Youtube, Verizon Fios, DirecTV, and Cox. As of January 14, 2017, the film had received 5 out of 5 stars on iTunes with 55 ratings.[7] On April 10, 2017, the film was released on Netflix and Amazon Prime.[8]
