Freaks of Nature is a boutique electronic music and art festivals combining dance, special effects, stunning colourful visuals and costumes that transcends music and provides a unique platform for emerging artists, international headliners and local talent.[1]

Episode 1[edit]
Freaks of Nature first launched during the XP Music Conference run by MDL Beast, bringing a never-before-seen music platform to Saudi Arabia. Freaks Of Nature launched with the vision of continuing this partnership and exploring new possibilities to further develop the music and entertainment industries and elevate local talent alongside Europe’s up and coming DJs.[2]
Episode 2[edit]
Freaks of Nature burst back onto the Saudi music scene on 5 May 2022 with an extravaganza of light and sound, dance and special effects, as the world’s best 4-deck DJ, James Hype from the UK, closed the show and joined a packed line-up of local artists for a two-day festival. Supported by stunning visuals, flamboyant costumes and vibrant colours that transcend music, the second Freaks of Nature event in Saudi is ready to captivate a record audience.[3]
Episode 3[edit]
Freaks of ARAVEIA lit up the desert skies with stunning visuals, flamboyant costumes and vibrant colours as 10 international headliners including Mesto, Seth Hills, Kaaze and Toby Romeo. A strong line up of more than 25 local favourites will be performing, including DJs and emcees Dish Dash, Cosmicat, Alaa Jazaeri, Sound of Yaz and RDJ, as well as special guests and the winner of the first ever Freaks of Nature DJ competition, perform back-to-back across three stages.[4]
Chief Disruption Officer at Disrupt Group, Yazeed Alhashim, said in a statement, “This was an epic festival. It was great to see so many creative people coming together to experience all types of music, the art exhibition and the pop-ups we had on offer. This shows what is possible for music and entertainment in Saudi as it continues to grow and evolve into a thriving industry where talent gets the chance to shine.”[5]
The festival also hosted art installations, local clothing brands, a pop-up night market zone, and the hottest street food trucks serving delicious creations all weekend.[6]
Episode 4[edit]
The fourth edition of Freaks of Nature was a smaller gathering as part of MDL XP Futures and served to showcase the growth of the event since making its debut at MDL Beast’s XP Music Conference a year previously.[7]
Location and Festival Grounds[edit]
The first Freaks of Nature was held in Riyadh as part of the inaugural XP Music Conference in Saudi Arabia. With a single stage and audience capped at 300 people, the event was a hugely successful pilot and showed the potential for the festival to grow.
When Freaks of Nature returned, it was the first to feature two stages over two nights. More than 1000 people each night enjoyed the various sub-genres and atmosphere at Mountain View Resort.
Freaks of ARAVEIA moved outdoors for the largest event to date, taking over the Al Duhami Equestrian Center on the outskirts of Riyadh where 3000 of people danced to the beats of the first three-stage event until the early hours.
The fourth edition of Freaks of Nature returned to its roots at MDL XP Futures for a showcase of the event’s growth so far.
Art[edit]
Alongside music, Freaks of Nature has provided a platform for local artists to display their works and showcase their skills to a live audience.
The second edition brought together local artists for a live wall painting by Big50 who will create a huge mural during the festival, an art installation by Euphoria and Riyadh String Art. Gaze by leen, Miish Art and Aesthetic will also be exhibiting over the two days. At the pop-up concept store, local clothing brands Forty7, Foshostore and Gleamsby will be on show and available to purchase.
Freaks of ARAVEIA expanded on this successful debut with more art installations, local clothing brands, a pop-up night market zone, and the hottest street food trucks serving delicious creations all weekend.

Freaks of Nature is organised by Disrupt Group with support from the General Entertainment Authority.
Talent Booking[edit]
Talent is booked through the Disrupt Group and has focused on up-and-coming DJs and artists from the rest of the world, along with the best performers from across Saudi Arabia.[8]

The first Freaks of Nature was solely funded and promoted by the Disrupt Group as part of MDL Beast’s XP Conference.
Since then, commercial partners have been keen to get on board. The second edition was supported by
Freaks of ARAVEIA was supported by official hotel partner DoubleTree by Hilton Riyadh Financial District, and Red Bull Middle East who sponsored the DJ Competition.
The fourth edition at MDL XP Futures was once again promoted by the Disrupt Group.

Impact and Legacy[edit]
Freaks of Nature takes inspiration from the large festivals held regularly across the world, such as Tomorrowland and EDC Las Vegas, and adapts the concept to suit the cultural nuances of Saudi Arabia as the Kingdom’s entertainment sector begins to grow.
As one of the first large-scale outdoor electronic music festivals to be authorised in Saudi Arabia, Freaks of Nature has been able to establish a platform for rising talent to perform and for well-known artists from Europe to enter the Saudi market.
On its debut, Freaks of Nature’s colour, costumes and stunning visuals transcended music and created an experience never before seen in the country. It showed the creativity of the people and showed that there is a thriving market ready to emerge in Saudi Arabia.
