DeLorey was born and raised in Nova Scotia. He worked as an advisor to Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Atlantic Canadian issues before taking a job in the Conservative Party of Canada's offices. From 2013–15 he was the director of political operations for the party.
In the 2018 Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership race, Delorey was the campaign manager for Christine Elliott's campaign.
