The Freitag Gruppe is a group of companies with its headquarters in Parsberg, Upper Palatinate, and is one of Germany's largest privately owned energy services providers. The group comprises 27 companies in Germany, Hungary and the Czech Republic. They work in the fields of energy, electrical engineering, data technology, gas and water supplies, information technology and personnel services and have over 3,000 national and international customers.
The Freitag Group employs a workforce of around 2,700 (spring 2020).[1]
History and development
Franz Freitag founded an installation company under the name of "Freitag und Kamm" in 1922.[2]
His son Ludwig Freitag joined the installation business in 1953 at the start of the German economic miracle. By the end of the 1980s, he had developed the company Elektro-Freitag into a business with 250 employees. In 1988, the company acquired Fränkische Baugesellschaft GmbH, Bayreuth.
Ludwig's two sons Joachim and Michael Freitag joined the company at the start of the 1990s. They represent the third generation of the family company.
"Dipl.-Ing. Ludwig Freitag Elektrobau GmbH" (Zwenkau), "WEA Wärme- und Energieanlagenbau GmbH" (Sebnitz und Erfurt") and "EBT Elektrobau GmbH Thüringen" (Erfurt) were added between 1990 and 1997. In 2007, the Ludwigshafen company "Reinhard Kissler Energiemontagen GmbH & Co. KG" was taken over. In 2009, 76% of Enaco Energieanlagen- und Kommunikationstechnik GmbH was acquired from E.ON Bayern. The whole of Enaco is now part of the Freitag Group. The Freitag Group has been building photovoltaic installations in the Czech Republic and the UK since 2010.
