Frère Ermite (Brother Hermit), born Pascal Maurice, alias Paul Melchior.
Does God really call you, does He want you to be a recluse ? Is this whole past of steps and counter-steps really going to stop ? What seems to me to be "your way", your hermit's way, seems to me rather like a voice that speaks in the desert of the world of the spectacle ; it is a deeper solitude than that of St. Anne's hermitage or of some desert. Stay in this immense crowd. Love each person with the very Love of the Father, let the Spirit do, let Jesus in you marvel at this starry world, beg for them. He is, Abba... What will add to your cross, if you accept to stay there, in the middle of the world, is that no one (or almost no one) will be able to understand this game : to be with and to flee to a desert, to be with and not to share the ways of the world, especially its lack of respect and Love. If you choose to remain a hermit in the middle of the wind, your solitude will sometimes be immense.[1]
