Fresh Thyme Farmers Market is a Midwestern grocery retailer operating as a subsidiary of Meijer Companies LTD, based in Downers Grove, Illinois. Fresh Thyme specializes in meats, seafood, bulk foods, and minerals and vitamins, as well as organic, gluten-free and dairy-free options.

History[edit]

Fresh Thyme was launched by Chris Sherrell in 2012 as a specialty supermarket and grew the chain to 77 stores in 11 states.[1] The company formed as the result of a merger between the former Sunflower Farmers Market, a chain of groceries based in Phoenix, and Sprouts Farmers Market, a group of more than 160 stores throughout the West and Southwest.

Sherell stepped down as president and CEO of Fresh Thyme in 2019. The role was taken over by Gerald Melville.[1]

Operations[edit]

Fresh Thyme's locations average 24,000 to 28,000 square feet in size. Each location features a bakery, deli, meat/seafood counter, health care products, and traditional grocery items with an emphasis on "natural" products.
