Despite being differently described from game to game, the actual appearance of Froggy Chair has remained the same since the original Animal Crossing (video game) in 2001. Other Details[edit]

Froggy Chair can be acquired in similar ways across all titles in the series. In Animal Crossing (video game), Animal Crossing: Wild World, and Animal Crossing: City Folk, it can be bought from Tom Nook for 1,200 bells ("bells" being the form of currency in the game), and can be sold for 300 bells. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf it can be bought from the Nooklings, and in Animal Crossing: New Horizons it can be bought from Nook's Cranny. Both of which also cost 1,200 bells and are sold for 300 bells.

Froggy Chair is part of a set of furniture items called the Froggy Set. The only other item in the froggy set is the Lily-pad Table, which is a regular green table in the shape of a lily pad.

Froggy Chair was originally not present when Animal Crossing: New Horizons first released in March 2020. However after getting many requests from fans to bring the item back, the Froggy Set was added to the game in the 2.0 update on November 5, 2021.

Froggy Chair is notably absent in the spinoff mobile game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

Reception[edit]

Froggy Chair became a notable meme in late 2019, as people praised its cute design and created images depicting their love for the chair. An example of which is a popular image of Marvel villain Thanos sacrificing his 1,200 bells in order to purchase Froggy Chair.[1] More and more love for the chair was spread around the internet past 2019, and it has solidified itself as a prominent meme in the Animal Crossing community. Froggy Chair saw a slight surge of popularity following November 5, 2021 and the addition of Froggy Chair into Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which was the most popular Animal Crossing game at the time.[2]
