Frontera United FC is the premier men's Soccer organization in Yuma, Arizona. Joining the United Premier Soccer League in 2016,[1] Frontera United played an exhibition season in 2015 ending with a 6-3-1 record.[2]

History[edit]

The first interaction between Frontera United and Yuma was to cut a check for $15,000 to the City of Yuma Parks and Recreation to transition Desert Sun Stadium into a soccer venue.[3] From there the organization turned to the city and offered a $1,000 college scholarship to the winner of the team naming contest.[4] With over 100 team name submissions, the team name was a hybrid of two team names "Frontera" and "United" and two scholarships were awarded to the participants.[5]
