Fulbright Prism
Fulbright Prism is an international professional association comprised of LGBTQ-identifying grantees, alumni, and staff of the Fulbright Program.[1] The network classifies itself as the "LGBTQ affinity group" for the Fulbright community.[1]
History and Mission
Fulbright Prism began as an Instagram page in summer 2018 designed to share the stories of LGBTQ .[2] It was started by three LGBTQ-identifying alumni of the Fulbright Germany Program.[2] While its presence remains largely online, focusing on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter outreach, representatives from the organization began attending Fulbright Program events in late 2018[3] and have worked closely with the European Fulbright Diversity Initiative.[4] Nonetheless, the association is independent from any other organization and claims not to represent the Fulbright Program or any of its affiliates.[1]
The association's stated mission is to "empower and connect LGBTQ Fulbrighters past and present".[1]
Logo
The association's logo is a circle consisting of a white silhouette of the globe along the Prime meridian. In the background is a diagonal gay pride flag and superimposed on the foreground are the words "Fulbright Prism" in black font. The logo is trademarked by Fulbright Prism and was created by one of its co-founders in 2018.
