The Fune Emirate Council is one of the oldest traditional states in Northern Nigeria with headquarters in the city of Damagum, capital of the Fune local government, Yobe State, Nigeria. Fune local government is being ranked highly in matters of caliphate.[1] The emirate was founded by the Karai-Karai ethnic group in an independent territory of the Karai-Karai Land bordering from the east with the western Kanem-Bornu Empire, to the south with Gooya Kingdom, to the north with Tikau Emirate and to the west with Dambam Emirate and Jalam Emirates before the existence of the later Potiskum Emirate. Fune emirate council was first created on December 23rd, 1992.[2]
The current emir of Fune is Mai Alhaji Sale Idris Ibn Usman who succeeded the former emir, late Mai Idris Ibn Usman.[3][4][5]
