Funke The Movie is a Nigerian drama, comedy and sport filmIt's the story of a your girl who tries to follow her passion (football) in a male dominated society,being directed by Yemi Morafa[1] starring the likes of Miracle Iyanda and Ojuolape Kayode in their breakthrough roles.The film is majorly shot in the western region part of Nigeria, Oyo, Ibadan and fewer parts of the scenes shot in the most populous state in Africa, Lagos.
The likes of Aditya Rao[2], Chidinma Agwu[3], Jerusalem D'zuamo[4], Friday Nwagwu[5], Michael Onwunali and Bazariah Deborah were all involved in the story development of the film and it's scripted by Friday Nwagwu and Bazariah Deborah.

Plot[edit]

The script is inspired by African Athletes. The story centers around a young Nigerian girl who loves football and wants to play. Funke is set in Ibadan, Nigeria, between the mid and late 90’s. The story follows Funke’s life and people who are close to her. It shows her struggles in finding success in a game during a time where it was predominantly considered a man’s game. The story focuses on her choices and decisions as a young girl, as she attempts to achieve her dream. The film focuses on family dynamics, young love/crush and the game of football and what it means to be a footballer.

The film encompasses aspects of drama, comedy, tragedy and sports.

Production[edit]

The film is produced by Jerusalem D'zuamo[6] under True Tales Group which is a media organization providing all kinds of media services including Creative Media, Events, ecommerce, Tv and Film Productions. The film is directed by Yemi Morafa[7] and co-directed by Friday Nwagwu. He has directed/produced a series of movies including the 2016 highly rated film “Something Wicked[8][9][10][11][12] with The JAF Alliance.

Pre-Release and Promotions[edit]

The sole purpose of the movie is to reach out to the audience in the area of sport especially when a girl dreams and the society reacts. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are used to achieve the goal through the pre-release stages. During pre-production, production and post production, photographs of acts, scenes and locations are posted on these platforms.

Premiere[edit]

The movie will be released in the cinemas by June 2018.
