G. Doug Davis
G. Doug Davis, Ph.D., is an American international relations professor in the political science department at Alabama's Troy University.[1] Davis specializes in European security, along with the Middle Eastern region. A master's and doctoral alumnus of the University of Arizona, Davis also holds a graduate degree from the European Pontifical Lateran University.

Research
Davis's research centers around the security of the European continent and both American-Russian and Middle Eastern relations.
2019 NATO Conference
Davis and Michael Slobodchikoff, a colleague, were awarded NATO's Public Diplomacy Grant in 2019. In November of that year, Davis and Slobodchikoff hosted the "NATO at Seventy: A Strategic Examination of the Past, Present, and Future of the Atlantic Alliance" Conference at Troy University at Montgomery.[2] The conference explored the organization's future role and obstacles following its seventieth anniversary; Ambassadors Robert E. Hunter and George Maior, Poland's Military Attaché to the U.S.—Major General Cezary Wisniewski—and Latvian, Lithuanian, and Croatian diplomats all spoke at the conference.
Publications
Davis has written both academic articles and books; he has been published in ten languages. His recently published works and current research center on great power competition, European demographics and security, American post-Cold War diplomacy, American-Russian post-Soviet relations, and Eastern Europe[3]. He co-wrote, along with Slobodchikoff, Cultural Imperialism and the Decline of the Liberal Order: Russian and Western Soft Power in Eastern Europe[4]; the two also co-edited American Global Leadership: Ailing U.S. Diplomacy and Solutions for the Twenty-First Century[5]. Davis also published Croatian Cultural Renaissance: From the Margins to the Crossroad of Europe[6]
Work Experience
Davis has worked in the Middle East on international development projects funded by the European Union, the Italian government, and the World Bank Group. He has worked toward opening financial institutions across the globe. Davis has worked at several universities in Poland, and in 2020, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Zagreb in Croatia.
