G. Knight (formally known as Graffiti Knight) is a Canadian graffiti artist, from Montreal, Quebec.[1] Political activist and painter, his satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour and pop culture with a distinctive stencilling technique. His notable works include the currency / stamp series as well as the Darth Vader Series.[2] G. Knight's work has appeared at the Miami Street Art Auction [3] as well as fine art America.[4] G. Knight's identity remains unknown.

Career[edit]

G. Knight began as a self-taught painter and adopted street art as his main artistic style. His early works were done mostly with acrylics on canvas while his street art involved mural pieces using spray paint. Around 2000, he began to actively place numerous art pieces on the streets of major cities.

His works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world. G.Knight's work grew out of Montreal's underground street. Observers have noted that his style is distinctly different than any other artist which have included wheatpaste, sticker, paintings, sculptures and mural works.

G.Knight displays his art on publicly visible surfaces such as walls and self-built physical prop pieces. His artworks have been in numerous auctions in Europe and America.[5] [6]

G.Knight's artworks released in the summer of 2015 feature his own currencies, stamp, government cheques and various paraphernalia with his self-portrait works . These artworks have been photographed and featured by various street art groups and magazines resulting in a worldwide following of his artwork.

G. Knight appeared in the 2016 short A Dance for G. Knight,[7] directed by Oz Yilmaz.
