G. Vijayaraghavan or GVR as he is known, is the founder and ex-CEO of Technopark in Trivandrum, India’s first electronic-technology park.[1] He is a mentor to several IT organizations and young entrepreneurs and startups, offering advice on Strategy, Finance, HR, Administration and Fundraising. He is the author of the book titled ‘Vijayavazhikal – Ente Techno Park Smaranakal’.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

G Vijaya Raghavan was born in Tanga, Tanzania on 27 March 1957. He is an electrical engineer and graduated from TKM College of Engineering, University of Kerala. Currently, he resides in Trivandrum with his family.

Career[edit]

He has held notable positions in Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (KELTRON) and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing.[3]

In 1990, he became the first CEO of Technopark in Trivandrum, India’s first Electronic Technology Park.[4]

He soon established and guided the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), Thiruvananthapuram, as its Honorary Director from 1997 to 2017.[5]

During 2011-2016 as a member of the Kerala State Planning Board, he was responsible for setting up the Working Group in the area of Disabilities. As a member of the High-Power Committee, he oversaw the Cochlear Implant Program, State Initiative of Disabilities, District Level Early Intervention Centres, Rubella Vaccination Program for Adolescent girls, to name a few.[4]

Honors and awards[edit]

GVR has been recognized by the Trivandrum Management Association- Management Leadership Award and also the Kerala Management Association IT Leadership Award in 2016.

Publications[edit]

G. Vijaya Raghavan published the book “VIJAYAVAZHIKAL: ENTE TECHNOPARK SMARANAKAL”/ Memoirs of the ‘first CEO’ in 2015.[2]
