History

GBTEC was founded by Gregor Greinke and Marc-Oliver Stromberg in 2005 and started out by providing BPM consulting services and developing add-ons for existing BPM tools.

In 2007, GBTEC began developing its own software and introduced its first standalone software for Business Process Modeling.

In 2015, GBTEC reported its most successful year in the company’s history as it more than doubled its revenue and expanded its workforce by 30%.

In 2017, GBTEC continued to experience rapid growth and developed a groundbreaking cloud-based BPM solution called BPM suite BIC Cloud.

In 2019, GBTEC established a joint venture with imatia (a Spanish business software company) to form GBTEC Software S.L., allowing GBTEC to serve the spanish-speaking markets. BIC Process Design

BIC Process Design is an AI-powered process transformation tool that allows users to visualize, understand, optimize and scale their business processes. Users can use Arty, the platform's AI assistant, to generate a business process based on a prompt or manually map out their processes using different design elements. It also allows users to upload and manage documents relevant to the business process and map stakeholders who are responsible for a specific part of the process.

BIC Process Execution

BIC Process Execution is a no-code process automation tool that integrates AI capabilities, enabling users to automate workflows without any programming. BIC GRC

BIC GRC allows organizations to manage risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement timely internal controls. It enables various governance activities like risk identification and assessment, compliance tracking, control monitoring, audit execution, and policy management via customizable workflows and dashboards. It also allows organizations to directly link risks and controls to the business processes created in BIC Process Design. Published Studies

Process Excellence Key Factors

In August 2025, GBTEC commissioned a global study that explored how prepared organizations were for automation and AI. The study drew on insights from 600 senior business and operations leaders across ANZ, Europe, and North America, and identified challenges, opportunities, and best practices for organizations seeking to thrive in the era of automation and agentic AI.
