GEC Anderson Limited a privately owned company specialising in stainless steel, sinks, worktops, cabinets, shelving and sanitaryware. Established in 1962. Located near Tring, Hertfordshire.
History

Founded in 1962 by Mrs Gulvie Elna Charlotta Tye, née Anderson (Swedish) who moved to the UK in 1957. Gulvie Tye, with husband - architect / industrial designer - Alan Tye, RDI (Royal Designers for Industry) included a Swedish stainless steel sinktop in their kitchen.
Such made-to-measure stainless steel worktops were not available in the UK and GEC Anderson was founded on the demand, initially from friends and colleagues, that followed. The initial concept was of the continuous worksurface, produced without joins or seams, incorporating sink bowls, cut-outs and other details, such as customised edge profiles and made from stainless steel. The design framework was presented to architects and designers who, in turn, deployed GEC Anderson stainless steel within building projects. GEC Anderson's range of stainless steel sinks and worktops was later augmented by other products: stainless steel cabinets, shelving and sanitary ware and have subsequently been specified in a wide variety of projects and applications (see below), in the UK and internationally.
Gulvie Tye retired in 1996 and the company is now run by her son Martin Tye.
