Government Higher Secondary School Tirurangadi (ഗവണ്മെന്റ് ഹയർ സെക്കൻഡറി സ്കൂൾ തിരൂരങ്ങാടി) is a government educational institution in Malappuram District of Kerala situated in the historical town of Tirurangadi. Tirurangadi is a well-versed place in the history of the freedom struggle and is now known as a small educational hub in the district. GHSS Tirurangadi is one of the two important schools serving the primary educational needs of the area as well as nearby areas. The Kadalundi River is just 0.5 kilometers away and Mampuram Mosque and Tirurangadi Mosque are two religious centers near to the school.
History
GHSS Tirurangadi was established in the year 1959 and is managed by the Department of Education. It is one of the oldest schools in the region and is located on the banks of Kadalundi River. The school comes under Parappanangadi block in Malappuram district of Kerala. It consists of grades from 5 to 12 in two different sections, high school and higher secondary. The school is co-educational and it doesn't have an attached pre-primary section. Malayalam and English are the mediums of instruction in this school.[1]
The school was upgraded from a High School to Higher Secondary. The school is regarded as one of the foremost educational institutions in Malappuram district with a focus on holistic education from class 5 to class 12 while producing notable sports talent.[2][3] The school has one of the largest playgrounds in the district which also acts as a makeshift stadium for football games. Malappuram, being the football hub of Kerala, often witnesses matches in this ground.[4]
