GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) is a private medical college and teaching hospital established in 2015.[3]
GIMSR is a part of GITAM (Deemed to be) University, which is located in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.[4][5]
The college admits 150 students yearly for the MBBS undergraduate programme based on the national entrance test (NEET) and 52 postgraduate students in various medical specialities.[6]
GIMSR currently has over 200 medical faculty members, 170 paramedical staff, over 350 nursing, administrative and support staff.[7]

GITAM Hospital[edit]
Established in the year 2014, GITAM Hospital operates with 850 beds with all medical specialities like Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, Dermatology, ENT, Psychiatry, Pulmonology, Anaesthesia, Radiodiagnosis etc. It has 11 operation theatres (9 major, 2 minor) to cater to the needs of various medical specialities.[14][15]

- Ophthalmology Department has organised an awareness camp on Eye Donation.[16]
- GIMSR hospital general surgery department had organised a free breast cancer detection camp[17]
- K Swathi Reddy, a final year medical student from GIMSR helped a pregnant woman deliver her baby on moving train Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Duronto Express.[18]
