GOMIBLOG is an American blog founded by Alice Wright writing under the name "nycaw" and based in New York City. It focuses on internet celebrities and the online creator industry.[2] The blog calls itself "the first blogger and influencer focused news and discussion site". Many consider it to be a "hate" site[3] and it has been accused of being "the most concentrated and active of the “hate blogs”"[4].

Overview[edit]

The site was founded in 2008 as "Get Off My Internets". It initially focused on "snark" about internet media and technorati celebrities (such as Gawker and Tumblr employees) before shifting its coverage to the personal blogger and influencer industries. Discussion forums were added in 2011. The site rebranded as GOMIBLOG in 2014.

Controversies[edit]

Forbes’ 100 Best Websites For Women[edit]

GOMIBLOG was added to Forbes’ 100 Best Websites For Women[5] and the site was almost removed from the list due to internet outcry[6] against its inclusion.

Cancer Scam Accusations[edit]

In 2015 the website posted an article questioning whether a blogger and her husband were faking a cancer diagnosis. The diagnosis was later confirmed by hoax check website Warrior Eli[7] and the article was removed from GOMI.
