GRB 170817A is a gamma-ray burst (GRB) detected by NASA's Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope and INTEGRAL/SPI-ACS on 17 August 2017.[1][2][3][4] A rumoured possible gravitational wave event might be associated with GRB 170817A, which may have resulted from the collision of two neutron stars in the NGC 4993 galaxy, about 40 Mpc (130 Mly) away in the Hydra constellation.
