Review
The individual GUB funds contained various different investments in young high-tech companies, so-called start-up companies, which were financed during their start-up phase with equity. As a result of a bad business concept or because the technology didn’t follow through, a number of investments had to be abandoned. The funds no. 2, no. 3 and no. 7 closed with profits. The funds 1, 4, 5 and 6 closed by the end of the year 2003 without any profits. Subsequently, the portfolio recovered. Therefore, the GUB Unternehmensbeteiligungen GmbH & Co. KGaA generated an annual profit of €13,445 million in the years between 2011 until 2017, and the GUB Investment Trust a profit of €42,454 million.[11][9]
