Gabriela Dorgai (Gabriela Vekony) (11 February 1971 – 9 November 2014) was a Romanian theatre actress, of Hungarian nationality, best known for her performances in the North Theatre's productions.
Biography[edit]
Gabriela Dorgai was born in 1971 in the Municipality of Satu Mare, Romania to Dorgai György and Debus Terézia. She was the youngest of two daughters. She studied Mathematics and Physics at the Mihai Eminescu National College in Satu Mare, where she obtained a distinction in her Baccalaureate, while developing a love for theatre and discovering her undoubtable talent. She married Attila Vekony, a businessman in 1991, with whom she had her daughter, Bianka Vekony.
Career[edit]
Soon after graduating, in 1990, Gabriela Dorgai joined the North Theatre and pursued a career in acting. She later went on to obtain a Master's Degree from the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. She performed in numerous plays and musicals in regional theaters, as well as toured internationally. A brilliant and beloved actress enveloping the soul of a true artist.
Death[edit]
Gabriela Dorgai was murdered on 9 November 2014 while walking home from the premiere of Inima de Caine by an unidentified criminal (last updated: 2023).
