Gabriella Stern (née Levy) is the current Director of Communications at the World Health Organization, charged with the organization’s global communications strategy, managing a team of communications professionals around the world, and serving as spokesperson for the Director General in Geneva.[1]

Career[edit]

Before joining the WHO, Stern was director of media and external relations at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation from 2016 to 2019, based in Seattle. Prior to her role in the Gates Foundation, Stern was deputy managing editor and editor of strategic initiatives at The Wall Street Journal, from 2012 to 2016, based in New York, London, and Asia. Prior to her role at The Journal, Stern worked at the Dow Jones for nearly 25 years. Stern was a reporter at the Omaha World-Herald earlier in her career.[2]

Personal life[edit]

Stern was born in New Jersey, earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature and a Master’s degree in Political Science and Government from Yale University, and is married with two adult children, and a pet cat.[3]
