Gail Hamula
Gail Elizabeth Hamula Gross (October 26, 1955 – October 10, 2022) was an American figure skater.[1]
Biography
Hamula initially competed in singles before switching to pairs with partner Phillipp Grout. [2] They finished ninth at the 1975 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
Hamula later teamed with Frank Sweiding. After winning the silver medal at the 1977 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, they finished seventh at the World Figure Skating Championships that year. Later in 1977, they won the pairs title at the Grand Prix International St. Gervais and the Nebelhorn Trophy. They finished second again at the national championships in 1978 before placing tenth at that year's World Championships. They then turned professional and toured with the Ice Capades for several years.[2]
Following her skating career, Gail married and became a dental hygienist. She was later diagnosed with Multiple Systems Atrophy and passed away in 2022.[1][3]
