Gaja is a town and is in Tehri Garhwal district in the state of Uttrakhand it is situated on the off-route of NH-34 connecting Rishikesh to Devprayag , Srinagar and also connecting to New Terhi and Mussoorie. It is 65km from Rishikesh ,35 km from Surkhanda Devi Temple and 25 km from New Tehri. The hill town Gaja,Uttrakhand, is another of those destinations yet unknown to most of the tourists and therefore unspoiled and wonderful place for the lucky few who venture out seeking new places to explore and enjoy. Gaja is situated at an elevation of 1800m above sea level. There are pleasant forests of pine and some Alpines with very good views. Unlike Mussoorie, this place is fairly quite and scenic
How to reach Gaja
By Bus: Gaja is well connected by public and private transport buses from neighboring cities. It you are driving from Delhi, follow the route to Chamba from Rishikesh, then take the road to Gaja via Khadi (located on Hyul sub river) . Distance from Gaja to Rishikesh is 65 km, to Mussoorie is 80 km and to Delhi it is 283 km.. Buses to Chamba, Rishikesh, and Tehri etc. are available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate By Train: Rishikesh is the nearest railway station, Rishikesh is well connected by railway networks with major destinations of India. Trains to Rishikesh Railway station are frequent. Gaja is well connected by motor able roads with Rishikesh. Taxis and buses are easily available from Rishikesh to Chamba. Rishikesh Railway station is situated 65 km before By Air: Jolly Grant Airport near Dehradun is the nearest airport to Gaja at a distance of 85 km (3 to 4 hrs via Rishikesh).
