Galava was a game created by its admin Alessandro Bassi on May 4, 2008. Players assumed the role of leaders of their own fictional empires. The game was first colonized by players from Lunar Wars and Cyber Nations. It was a free massive multiplayer online geo-political and war simulator, based in fantasy medieval times. Galava was first imagined in 2007, as an improvement to Bassi's other game, Lunar Wars.

Gameplay[edit]

When a player first created their empire, they choose a user name, founder name of the empire, and the name of the empire. They can also choose their roleplay settings which sets the population and government position of their empire. After that, players can advance their nations' sophistication through buying progression, exploring new land types to enlarge their nation (land types included plains, hills, mountains, etc.), collect money and resources from their farms, mines and mills; and trade resources. All these options improve the economies of their empires. There were many other things to do as well such as enhancing magic skills for combat, purchasing new troops, finding new ways to collect more resources, and declaring war against other empires.

A large aspect of the game was the ability to join guilds, which were alliances made up of a group of players under a central government. Guilds functioned to protect their members, compete with other guilds on the international stage, and to form large blocs among alliances. This causes a political background similar to real-world politics. Guilds in Galava included immigrants from other games, which made up the majority of active guilds, and new guilds conceived in Galava. The game was also a refuge for many from Resist or Be Terminated, a game commissioned by Warner bros. preceding the theatrical release of Terminator Salvation, which used a modified version of Galava's source code.

Closure[edit]

On October 2, 2009, the game was closed down. The decision came as a result of a lack of funds to keep the site running and after suffering an attack by a hacker.
