A traditional sustainable forest management is to use the branches and leaves of oak trees to feed livestock in the cold season, which is common among forest dwellers and indigenous peoples of the mountains and foothills of the Northern Zagros (from Piranshahr to the border of Kurdistan and Kermanshah provinces in the Shahu Mountains).[1][2]
