Galerinaceae is a fungal family established in 2026 by a team of scientist-mycologists in the paper titled "Re-shaping the family-level classification of Agaricineae (Agaricales, Basidiomycota) using a phylogenomic approach".[1] The family currently includes only two genera, Gymnopilus and Galerina.[1]
The family name was originally proposed by Marcel Locquin but only validated by the current authors (Locq. ex. Niskanen, Kytöv. & Liimat).
