Game Maker's Toolkit

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Game Maker's Toolkit is a YouTube channel (often referred to as "GMTK") dedicated to discussion and exploration of video game design. Created by Mark Brown, a former video game journalist.[1], the channel discusses topics such as (but not limited to) level design, accessibility, and game feel.

GMTK Game Jam[edit]

Since 2017, GMTK has hosted its own game jam. These jams last 48 hours, in which participants must create all their content from scratch, excluding generic game engine code. Teams of any size are allowed. After the submissions close, games are rated by the community, and top games are rated by Mark Brown himself, and are featured in a video on the Youtube channel.

Hosted on Itch.io, the jams have been successful with 748[2], 1036[3], and 2788[4] games submitted to each of them. The large popularity has caused technical issues to itch.io, with the website having stability issues and outages near submission time[5]
