Gamestream
Gamestream is a privately held technology company founded in 2015 by Ivan Lebeau and Olivier Lebigot.[1] and specialized in streaming video game solutions – also known as cloud gaming.
History
In 2014, Ivan Lebeau founded a consulting company named Prodeo, enabling traditional media and video game companies to build successful partnerships. He was later joined by Olivier Lebigot to provide technical expertise.
A project idea emerged, inspired by the video game "Remission," designed to help patients fight their diseases through a psychosomatic effect. "Healing through video games" is the goal.[2]
Technology
Gamestream technology is based upon the H.265 standard codec, which compresses a digital video file (or stream) so that it requires only half the storage space (or network bandwidth) of MPEG-2. This compression allows the codec to maintain the same video quality while using less storage space. The H.265 codec is also designed with low-latency applications in mind, and it provides the ability to partition video frames into regions called slices. Games are installed and hosted on remote servers, which handle real-time rendering of the image and sound before broadcasting it directly to a screen via an Internet connection.
Market & Applications
Gamestream streaming video game solutions are intended for the B2B market.[3] Launched commercially in 2019 after four years of research and development, the company targets telecom and hospitality professionals (hotels, hospitals, etc.).
Business Model
Gamestream's market proposition offers turnkey and "multi-device" solutions (TV, smartphone, PC, and tablet) that include features such as full HD and 4K gaming experiences, complemented by unlimited access to a video game catalog curated from major publishers (Disney, Capcom, Codemasters).
