Ganga Dutta Joshi (1992 – 2077 Magh 28) was a Nepali Congress leader, democratic warrior, and former member of parliament of Nepal. He was also a former member of the National Assembly and former president of the Nepali Congress Kanchanpur.

Biography

Ganga Dutta Joshi was born in Dadeldhura district of the Far West. He had been living in Mahendranagar for a long time.[1][2] He had been living in Mahendranagar for a long time. He was a contemporary and close friend of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba[3]

His contribution to the movements for the establishment and restoration of democracy in Nepal is considered significant.[4] He was one of the founding leaders of the Nepal Farmers' Union.[5][6]

Death

Joshi, who suffered from high blood pressure, died of a heart attack on 28 Magh 2077 BS at the age of 85 in Mahendranagar,Kanchanpur. He had a heart attack on the way to Geta Eye Hospital for treatment. [6][7]

Legacy

Ganga Dutta Joshi's role is considered pioneering in the campaign to establish Sudurpaschim University in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur. He made a leading contribution to the movement and political lobbying for the establishment of the university to provide access to higher education in the Far Western region.[8][9][6]

Ganga Dutta Joshi was a pioneer in the educational development and infrastructure construction of the Far West region. He played a leading role as founder, advisor and patron in the establishment of many schools, campuses and technical institutes from Dadeldhura to Kanchanpur:

  • **Higher Education and Technical Institute:** He led the important political advocacy and physical infrastructure construction from the early days in the establishment and development of Siddhanath Multiple Campus and Siddhanath Science Campus to lay the foundation for higher education in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur.[10]

In addition, his contribution to the establishment of Baijanath Engineering School for the expansion of technical education is also prominent.[11]
